Itinerary

  • Arrive at Istanbul Airport, meet your guide and drive south across the Sea of Marmara plain to Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. En route dinner sets the tone with fragrant Anatolian fare before you settle into the hotel.

  • Bursa’s honey hued sandstone monuments unveil imperial grandeur: the 14 domed Grand Mosque, the vaulted Silk Market and a bird’s eye sweep from Mount Uludag reached by cable car gliding over chestnut forests. By afternoon the road bends west toward the Aegean, reaching the resort of Kusadasi after dusk.

  • Walk marble streets in legendary Ephesus. Upon arrival, check in and begin your tour of the famous “Cotton Castle” with its white travertine terraces and hot springs. Walk on the thermal terraces and visit the ancient Roman amphitheater.

  • Checkout early from the hotel after breakfast and cross tawny highlands to Konya, spiritual heartland of the Whirling Dervishes; the turquoise tiled mausoleum of Mevlana Rumi hums with devotion followed by a photo stop at Sultanhani Caravansaray. Continue the drive to Cappadocia, check in to your hotel, have dinner, and rest.
